40 years of spending most of my days off the ground.
M.R.Tree Service is celebrating 40 years of being in the tree care industry.
I started 40 years ago with a 1967 Ford pickup truck and 2 chainsaws.
My first big job I bought my first set of climbing gear.
I worked in the woods starting out as a tree fallers helper up the McKenzie.
Eventually I started cutting trees and by 18 I was finding jobs with small gypo loggers felling timber.
I was asked to rig some lift trees for a logging project. This was my real first experience in climbing and topping a tree.
A lift tree is similar to a spar tree except it is used to create lift in the cables to allow the logs to reach the landing.
Throughout the 80s and into the 90s
I did small tree jobs and fought forest fires during the summer. I was put on as a snag faller and was on call 24 hrs .
In 1987 I was the first company to ever use cranes for tree removal.
We still use cranes today and it has become a worldwide part of the tree industry.
I have performed high profile jobs such as the Ferry Street Bridge expansion project. We had 45 police officers in full riot gear as we cut the trees because of the protesters against the trees being removed.
For the last 40 years my crew and I have been on the front lines of every storm that caused damage to the trees. We have spent countless hours, day and night trying to help those in need. Through all of this I was also able to raise 2 sons and be a boy scout leader for 14 years.
I have ultimately enjoyed what I decided to do with my life. We have made very many customers and friends over the years.
I very proud to be at a point in my life where I can give back to our local communities. Even though I post a lot of things on Facebook, not all get put on social media. I try to help others and sometimes it better to respect thier privacy and not put it out for everyone to see.

If you made it through all of that above...lol
During the month of June. I will be running a special on any tree removal projects that are excepted during June.
We will offer 50% off stump grinding for the tree being removed.
Our other special will be a $100 gift certificate for $50.
Limited to 1 certificate per person.

I want to take a moment and thank all of my customers and my crew.
I wouldn't be where I am today without you.

Sunday emergency services call.
Here is a prime example of what you don't want happening.
The neighbors tree came crashing down and destroyed the car and did extensive damage to the house. The tree has been dead for years.
This is where it gets really bad. The homeowners are now responsible for 2 different insurance claims and 2 deductibles.
That could wind up being a couple grand.
Here is what should have been done beforehand.
If you have trees on a neighbors property that could cause damage to your property. You need to send a certified letter stating that the tree is unsafe and needs some attention.
A copy of the letter should be sent to your insurance company.
In the state of Oregon it is considered an act of God, if a tree falls from another property and causes damage. Unless you have properly notified the property owners of the potential hazards. If they are properly notified. They can be held liable for any damages.
As you can see the main trunk of the tree is still standing in the first picture.
If the tree had broken at the base it would have cut the house in half. Possibly injuring the residents.
The damage was very extensive to the car and roof of the house.
I was able to remove the tree off the house and cover the damage so that no more water damage will occur.

It's always a good idea to take a look around for potential hazards. The weather is changing and winter storm season is coming up.
Please be aware of your surroundings and vigilant to all of the potential hazards overhead.

We love hearing from our customers.
Their yard looked like a war zone after the ice storm. We were able to restore some order to the destruction.
Another job well done.

A big thank you to Wilson Equipment for the great customer service
M.R.Tree Service is the proud new owner of a 2024 Bobcat MT100.
Over the years I have owned 7 of the Bobcats.
They are a very important part of making our jobs more efficient. The term backbone of the company comes to mind.
It means something a little different to me and the crew. It helps save our backs. The lifting and carrying capacity of these machines is amazing. I am slowly updating to having all MT100s. 0% interest is a great incentive to make it happen. We are looking forward to 2024. This will make 39 years in the tree care industry.

Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

Tight fit Thursday.
You never know until you try.
I had an inch of space on the hot tub and 1/2 an inch on the house side.
I got it and out without any damage to the house or hot tub. I can't say that for the stump.
It's GONE...😁😃

I'm asking for a little help.
If any of my customers had any issues with an employee of M.R.Tree Service in the last year.
I would really like to hear from you. Certain things have come to my attention and I would like to deal with them accordingly. I would like to hear about what actually happened on my job's when I was not around.
You can message me or email me at [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support and I will make my decisions on how to deal with the employee once I get more information on what actually happened.

37 years in business.
The last 25 years I have had 2 wonderful boys growing up with a father in the tree care industry.
It is a sacrifice between running a business and family. 14 of those years I devoted my time to my 2 boys and boy scouts.
Camping and other adventures. Great adventures and memories.
My boy are all grown up now and have become outstanding young men. I couldn't be more proud of them.
The video shows a great tree guy that lives here in Grant's Pass Oregon. A living legend who also made sacrifices and a living spending his days off the ground.
The best feeling of the day is being able to safely come home to your family.

Please keep an eye out for these EAB'S
They are devastating for any ash tree. These little guys have caused wide spread damage throughout most of the United States.
They have finally shown up.here in Oregon.
The last few years we have been seeing a large number of birch trees damaged by the birch borer. Most of these beetles damage the tree by boring into the tree to lay eggs that eventually will turn into a larvae. The larvae tunnel around the cambium layer of the tree.
The cambium layer is what feeds the tree.
If the cambium layer has too much damage. It will eventually kill the tree.
Essentially, we have another evasive insect to keep an eye out for.
Feel free to notify me if you see these destructive little guy. We can report them and hopefully work with the officials to figure out a alternative to deal with them.
