A home must be beautiful, practical, and fit harmoniously into its environment. This covered walk does all three with white piers, bougainvillea, and a stone floor that pulls you forward.

At Louwana, the architecture holds neutral so the color can lead. On the loggia, the cypress ceiling stays natural overhead while bougainvillea and coral cushions carry the warmth.
Inside, a deep red antique rug anchors a pale room of washed cypress and white walls.

The arch organizes this whole sequence. Move through it and each arched opening prepares you for the next, slowing the pace one room at a time.

We borrowed this idea from Oliver Messel, the British theater designer who built homes in the Caribbean with a gift for making guests feel genuinely received. That spirit lives in these "Welcoming Arms."

Returning to a home we originally designed allowed us to look at the land with fresh eyes. High on a dune twenty feet above the water, we structured the arrival as a steady ascent from the road.

A house sings when its details speak to one another. Here, the patterned floors set the tone, and the plaster fresco panels carry that rhythm up to the ceiling.

We looked to historic work in Barbados and Mustique before settling on the direction for this home. That lineage of classicism shaped by climate and local materials felt right for this waterfront site... where the sun is relentless, the storms are serious, and the water deserves a building confident enough to face it without flinching.

We designed this home to hold its own at every hour. Under a violet twilight, the arched entry frames a clear sightline through the house to the palms and water beyond. As dusk settles into evening, the white stucco walls catch the last blue light while warm interiors begin to glow through open glass. The architecture never rests on a single moment. It keeps revealing itself.

Here, the rooms arrive in sequence, each one held until you reach it. The interior keeps a single line, carrying the eye from space to space. The walk delivers each room, rather than opening the plan all at once.
