Full Job Description
Schultz Architecture , LLC is looking for an Assistant Residential Construction Drafter to join our design team. The Assistant Drafter is responsible to help convert the designs of the team into technical drawings that can be used for accurate estimating and/ or for efficient completion of Production. This will require producing some detailed drawings and renderings for pricing and fabrication of custom architectural and structural elements. The Assistant Drafter will gain a working knowledge of the scope of work needed for each job and so be able to field questions regarding basic sizing, structural engineering, and architectural details of the drawings, plans and related components.
The position is in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Must be willing to relocate to area. Remote work is only available 10% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be willing to learn, adopt and follow company core values
An extensive background of hands-on new and remodel residential construction experience
Minimum five (5) years of regular experience in drawing detailed residential architectural plans
Knowledge of the current Michigan Residential Building Code and ability to integrate it into drawings
Proven track record of successful residential building projects being constructed from self-produced drawings
Detail, process, and systems oriented; organized; and understands the importance of follow thru & follow-up.
Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel; and other computer programs commonly used in the remodeling industry.
Ability to generate 2D and 3D drawings and renderings using AutoCAD Architecture or Revit.
Effective visual communication aptitude with Excellent problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to set priorities, be a multi-tasker and decision maker.
Working knowledge of and ability to use Builder Trend, or the aptitude to learn.
The ability to interact and communicate appropriately with supervisor(s) and other management team members, the crew, subcontractors, and clients.
Must be willing to: be a team player; learn, follow, and enforce company policies and standards; suggest innovations; work alone; embrace new duties and responsibilities; be client service oriented; and teach and mentor others.
Valid Michigan Driver’s License and clean driving record
Work hours and schedule:
1. Works normally between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
2. Periodically, the job will require extra effort and time.
3. The work schedule may be altered when required to complete contracted jobs.
