This message, along with this photo were shared by one of our team members after Tuesday night’s storms hit close to home here in Kankakee.

We’re grateful that our AHF Kankakee employees and their families are safe after the severe storms that moved through our community. Many of our team members live right here in Kankakee County, so today we’re checking in with one another and supporting anyone who may have been affected.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter at Kankakee Community College for residents who have been displaced, offering meals, showers, and charging stations. For those looking to help, donations to the Emergency Response Fund of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties are a meaningful way to help the community right now.

Following yesterday's storm, the Emergency Response Fund of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties has been activated to support recovery efforts in our community.

Originally created in 2020 as a joint initiative of the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley and United Way, this fund is designed to provide rapid support to trusted organizations helping families recover and rebuild.

Donations to the Emergency Response Fund will support immediate needs and long-term recovery for those impacted by the storms and overseen by both of our organizations.
