Twenty-five to thirty dips. That's what it takes to get a taper exactly right — dipped, cooled, dipped again, until the color runs true and the shape is even from tip to base. This is what 65 years of craft looks like, frame by frame.

It starts with wax heated to exactly the right temperature - too cool and it won't hold, too warm and it won't set. Wicks are strung by hand, one at a time, then dipped 25 to 30 times each, building the taper layer by layer until it's smooth, even, and ready to burn clean. Once they're cool, every wick gets trimmed by hand. These tapers pass through 4-6 hands before ever leaving our Kansas City workshop.
