Proof that word travels fast in this town: the cats already know who to call.

Hi neighbors! I'm Jarell Sisk with Mid-Mo Handy Solutions. We do home repairs and remodeling all around Warrensburg and Johnson County and even a bit further from time to time. General repairs, bathrooms, flooring, plumbing and fixtures, carpentry, tile, painting, odd jobs.

Ever wonder what's going on behind the walls in your shower? In some homes it might look a bit like this. The house is older and the new owner wanted some updates and it's a good thing they did because when we went to address the wiggle in the walls, we found something terrifying. It's very clear this fixture had been dripping for a good long while and the mold was good and thick which is not something you want to find. We got this section removed and replaced and everything cleaned up and we're glad we caught it, but holy cow what a mess!

Before & After: We don't do handyman specials.

This is the second shower insert we've done in this style just this past month- they're clearly catching on, and it's easy to see why. Clean lines, solid install, built to last. We also reseated a broken toilet while we were at it.

Here's the thing we run into all the time: builders cut corners on work that isn't visible. We don't. Whether it's behind the wall or right in front of you, we do it right. No cheap fixes. No shortcuts. We want you to be happy with the work long after we're gone.

Before & After: Sometimes a floor is all a room needs.

You don't always need a full gut renovation to make a real difference. This bathroom floor had seen better days- the linoleum had years of wear showing. We put down new flooring and the whole room feels different. Same small space, completely fresh feel.

You don't have to break the bank to get results you're proud of. Good materials, laid right, go a long way.

When the recipe is lost, you figure it out. 🪵

This week we installed a new header for a client whose original carpenter had created a custom stain years ago- and the recipe was long gone. So we did what we do: we worked at it until we matched it as close as we could.

Take a look and judge for yourself.

A little note on oak- working with it is a whole different ballgame. The grain, the depth, the way it takes a stain... there's nothing quite like it. We think it turned out gorgeous.

Something about this just isn’t right… but I can’t quite put my finger on it....

“Every time I run the garbage disposal, water comes out under the sink.”

We took a look and found the issue pretty quick.

This home is only a few years old, but the drain pipes were never actually secured together. No adhesive, not fully seated, just loosely fitted. So every time the disposal ran, water had nowhere to go but out.

One small detail, big problem.

We got everything properly connected, sealed, and working the way it should.

This is the kind of thing we see more often than you’d think. When you hire us, we focus on doing it right the first time and making sure you don’t have to deal with the same issue again. And when needed, we’ll clean up the mess left behind by someone else’s work.

Things we learned this week that might benefit you as well.

We were already at a home working on a separate project when we went to wash our hands and realized the water wasn’t on.

Come to find out, a crew had been there earlier installing a custom island countertop through a big box store. They pulled the sink, shut the water off because the valves were leaking, and then headed out.

Since we already had valves on hand, we were able to do a quick fix and get everything replaced so the homeowner had water again that afternoon.

When it came time to hook the sink back up, we also found some missing parts, so we tracked those down and got everything finished up properly.

This isn’t a knock on anyone. It’s just the reality of how these jobs can go when multiple contractors are involved, each handling a specific piece of the project.

We’ve always handled these kinds of projects start to finish ourselves, so this was a new situation for us too and a good learning experience.

If you’re planning something similar, it’s worth thinking through ahead of time:
Who handles plumbing?
What happens if something unexpected comes up?
Will everything be usable at the end of the day?
