The pretty pictures are the fun part. But what happens before the pool is built?

That’s where some of the most important decisions are made.

Adam and I have seen firsthand how much the little details can impact the entire experience.

And here’s the thing… most homeowners don’t know what they don’t know when it comes to building a pool. Why would they? It’s not something you do every day.

From property surveys and drainage to what’s actually included in a proposal, there are questions worth asking before you sign anything.

So we’re sharing five things we think every Houston-area homeowner should know before building.

Save this one if a pool is on your wish list.

Most people pick their pool finishes from a screen. Our clients pick them in person.

Inside our Katy Design Studio, you'll see full-size tile in real light, compare coping, tile, and decking side by side
with our team — instead of navigating showroom after showroom on your own — and start shaping
the design with your designer, from first samples all the way to 3D renderings.

Daylight is optional ✨

With the right lighting design, the pool doesn't close when the sun goes down — it just changes mood. Swim at 7, unwind at 10 🌙

Cooler evenings. More reasons to gather 🔥

Fire pits, fire bowls, and fire troughs keep the backyard going through the cooler months — and they’re designed in, not added on.

Worth exploring for your next build or remodel.

THIS is what we mean by custom luxury design. ✨

From the pool and outdoor entertaining spaces to the landscaping and private putting green, every detail has been thoughtfully considered.

Designed by Adam, this concept is a beautiful example of how a truly custom design brings the entire property together.

The raised spa here wasn’t positioned as an afterthought.

Its placement creates a natural transition between the pool and covered living area while giving the backyard a focal point from multiple directions. It’s a good example of why we plan the pool and surrounding outdoor spaces together from the beginning. ✨

Some outdoor spaces are beautiful. The best ones feel completely connected. ✨

It starts with proportion, sightlines and materials that complement the architecture of the home — then layers in landscaping, lighting, water and outdoor living in a way that feels intentional rather than added on.

That's the difference thoughtful design makes.

Save this for your future pool + outdoor living plans.

10/13/2026

A well-designed outdoor space shouldn't have a "best angle."

It should feel intentional from every perspective.

From inside the home.

Across the patio.

Or from above.

When every view works together, great design speaks for itself.
