Sometimes you don't fully appreciate a room until you see it through the camera.

I knew I loved the symmetry of this seating area, but seeing it framed this way made me notice so much more. The trees appearing almost perfectly inside each window, the branches overlapping the artwork, and the contrast between all of those organic shapes and the strong architectural lines.

This ended up being one of those shots where the room gave us more than I expected.

Comfortable luxury isn't about excess.

It's about creating spaces that invite you to slow down.

In this bedroom, natural light pours through oversized windows, soft textures add warmth, and a restrained palette allows each element to breathe. The clean lines of the canopy bed create structure, while layered bedding and rich earth tones bring a sense of comfort and ease.

To me, luxury isn't measured by how much a room holds. It's measured by how a room makes you feel.

This one feels peaceful.

There’s something about the first hint of fall that always takes me back to growing up in Michigan.

Back-to-school season meant cooler days were coming, and one of my favorite traditions was going to Yates Cider Mill. We’d gather apples, get fresh cider and, most importantly, those warm sugar donuts. To this day, I swear they were the best donuts I’ve ever had.

I loved the whole experience. Walking along the river, the hiking trails, the picnic areas, the crisp fall air and coming home with apples. It’s one of those simple childhood memories that has stayed with me.

Maybe that’s part of why I’m still so drawn to the little rituals that make a season feel special. A bowl of apples on the kitchen counter, something baking in the oven, branches brought inside, a table set for people you love.

For me, creating a beautiful home has never just been about how it looks. It’s about creating the backdrop for the memories we carry with us.

Fall will always feel a little bit like Michigan to me.

Some homes have a quiet kind of character.

It's found in the details—the millwork that frames each wall, the graceful arched opening that draws you into the kitchen, and the beautifully detailed windows that fill the room with natural light.

As the sunlight moves through the space, everything feels softer. Calmer. More inviting. It's the kind of room that welcomes you in and makes you want to linger a little longer.

My approach to styling is never to compete with that character, but to complement it. By layering in organic elements and keeping the palette restrained, the architecture remains the focal point while the space feels warm, welcoming, and effortlessly refined.

Beautiful design isn't always about adding more. I believe it's about allowing the architecture to tell the story.

When I first walked into Shelby Park, everything was gray and white.

Beautiful.

But it felt a little cold.

My goal wasn't to change the home. It was to change how it felt.

By layering in warm wood tones, soft textiles, organic elements, and earthy accents, the spaces took on an entirely different personality. One that felt calm, inviting, and effortlessly lived in.

Sometimes the biggest transformation isn't changing the architecture.

It's changing the atmosphere.

Good styling doesn't compete with good architecture.

It supports it.

In this bathroom, every decision was already creating interest.

The role of styling was simply to complement what was there, not distract from it.

I don't style rooms to impress people.

I style them to make people feel something.

Calm.

Comfortable.

Curious enough to look a little longer.

That's usually when a room starts to feel like home.

A bedroom should feel lived in before anyone ever walks through the door.

Not messy.

Just quietly human.

A glass of water on the nightstand.

Fresh lemon.

Light filtering through linen curtains.

Those are the details that make a room feel less like a showroom and more like somewhere you'd want to wake up.

This table wasn't supposed to end up looking like this.

The original finish didn't feel right for the space I was creating. It was a dark walnut color (which I love), but this space needed something light.

Since I had two of these tables, I painted one. Then weathered it until it had the softness and character I was looking for.

Styling isn't always about bringing in something new.

Sometimes it's about looking at what you already have and asking,

"What could this become?"
