Burglaries and home invasions are on the rise. Is your family prepared? Here are a couple of simple tips:
-Reinforce your deadbolt and door frame with longer screws. 4" will usually do the job.
-Maintain proper lighting on the outside of your home.
-A security system with an alarm and cameras is great. The system will only work if it is armed. Many will only arm when they go to bed.
-Have a family plan. Identify a safe room and ensure there is phone available to call 911.
-If you have weapons, make sure you and other adults in the home have proper training and they are kept in a safe place.
