One of my regular customers had new hurricane windows and doors installed. While the company did a good job installing the windows and finishing them, the doors needed a lot of work inside. The frames needed to be built out, plastered and then trimmed. Both their front and back door needed tile work at the floor as well. While the homeowner didn’t have extra tile they found some that was a good match for the repair.

I had the opportunity to help with a “Store in Store” renovation at Lanes clothing store in South Miami. I was asked to demo the department, remove all the foam crown moulding, cover the tile trim in the cove edge, replace all the fluorescent lighting with LED lights, cover the plaster walls with 4x8 sheets of 1/2” melamine for the graphics to be applied to. The closet door had to be smooth so I filled in the slatted area with plywood to level it out. New baseboards were then installed and the room was painted. You can see the transformation to the new Johnnie O department in the store.

What do you do when the wood under the sink gets wet multiple times and starts to rot out? Formica!! This happens to have been an easy fix as it was a very open cabinet. I have done several where the mica had to be put in in 2 pieces because of a center divider for the doors.

The instructions for this baby gate doesn’t tell you how to install it on anything other than 2 square walls. The only accessory they give you is to allow for baseboards. Back in my shop I took a block of wood and bored a hole in it close to the size of the stair spindle. I trimmed the block so it would be square with the base of the spindle when it was installed. I cut the block in half, put in some blind nuts and clamped it to the spindle. I now had a square surface to mount the gate clips to. Another thrilled customer.

Florida sun will play havoc on stained doors and bleach them out and destroy the finish. This customer needed a quick fix as they were putting the house on the market. Wire brushed the doors and then a good coat of dark furniture polish and they looked outstanding. So good that they wanted me to do 5 sets of French doors! My shoulders were shot by the end of the day!!

Got asked by a law office to install a reception window. I have been doing a lot of work in their office and thought this would be an easy project. After ordering the glides and glass I knew how big the opening would have to be. Placed the hole so I would only have to cut one stud. Framed it out, leveled the trim, installed the tracks, glass, moulding, and painted. Just waiting to install the handles and they are good to go.

Good friends of ours hired me to help them during the renovation of their kitchen. There was a pocket door leading into the kitchen that they decided to close up and give them more wall space for more cabinets. I added more electrical outlets for their counter, one for an under counter wine cooler and one on the back of the new wall. After bracing the wall where the pocket door was, new 2x4’s were added to attach the 5/8” Sheetrock to. Both sides were plastered and they were ready to install the cabinets. They have since finished painting and installing the cabinets so new pictures will be added soon.

This customer was worried about an electrical short and wanted this fixed to plug in a landscape light timer. The conduit electrical box was only caulked to the wall! Since there was no wall cavity I attached a new non metallic box to the house, GFCI outlet and a waterproof cover.
