Just completed a job in metairie, where the customers yard was completely inundated with Bermuda and torpedo grass. These are two of the hardest weeds to eradicate from your South louisiana lawn. When 50% or more of the lawn is damaged or overrun we Always recommend sodding the lawn. With few exceptions. In this case I sprayed herbicides to kill the existing lawn. Then manually removed the dead turf. We then added top soil, and leveled the lawn for proper drainage and planted St. Augistine sod. We also reset the existing brick garden border, added garden soil, and some beautiful Fondation plants.
(Gardenia, and encore azaleas). Landscape fabric and mulch to Finnish it off.
Louisiana has a 12 month planting season, of course we are cautious when we have freezing temperatures (32 degrees), but for the most part the south shore stays mild. What I'm saying is, don't be afraid to make some landscape changes, as there is lots that can be done. Sodding and adding hardwoods and trees, gives you a big head start. When a spring arrives this customer will have an established lawn, and landscape, and if she decides to plant some color or tropicals. She knows who to call. And so do you
For over 20 years I have serviced Jefferson, and St Charles parish with excellent service.
