Apparently the tools, ladders, safety glasses, and questionable demolition confidence started pretty early.

Long before Sammy Does It was a business, I was already tearing into things, figuring out how they worked, and helping put them back together.

A little lighting can make a big difference — especially 22+ feet up!

Swapped out two dated fixtures wayy up in this 2-story ceiling for modern LED designs. The new lighting completely changed the feel of both spaces. (Don’t worry, that tangle in the entryway was addressed 😉)

Don’t replace it if you can repair it!

This leaning fence was brought back into alignment by reinforcing the failing posts instead of replacing the entire fence.

✔ Straightened the fence
✔ Reinforced the existing posts

A pinhole plumbing leak left this ceiling needing more than a simple patch.

After repairing the damaged drywall, I taped, skimmed and feathered it out into the existing ceiling; primed the patch to seal and prevent stains, and left a smooth, paint-ready surface for the homeowner’s new color wash plan.

An unfinished attic space—full of potential, just waiting for the right vision.

This project began by repurposing a pair of closets into a new hallway, while closing off the original access from the guest bedroom. From there, the transformation was built from the ground up:

✔️ Built a new floor system
✔️ Framed knee walls and storage areas
✔️ Improved insulation and air sealing
✔️ Ran new HVAC supply to the room
✔️ Installed a dedicated 20A AFCI electrical circuit and wired up outlets
✔️ Prepared the space for drywall and finishes

It’s still a work in progress, but watching an unused attic become functional living space is one of the most rewarding parts of a project like this.

This dining room originally had no ceiling fixture at all — only switched outlets.

I centered and cut the box opening, fished new wire through the vaulted ceiling, installed the ceiling box, and rerouted the switching with dimmer control for the new chandelier.

One of those projects that looks simple when it’s finished… because the hard part is hidden behind the walls and ceiling.

Done clean. Done right. That’s how Sammy Does It.

Most siding problems don’t start as emergencies — they start as small cracks, swelling edges, soft spots, and hidden moisture intrusion.

This wall had failing sections scattered from ground level all the way up the elevation. Instead of covering it up or patching over rot, the damaged areas were cut out, rebuilt, blended, and replaced correctly.

✔️ Rotted siding removed
✔️ Trim and transitions repaired
✔️ New Hardie installed and blended
✔️ Sealed, prepped, and finished to match

The goal isn’t just making it look fixed.
The goal is making sure it stays fixed.

Ended up taking it down to the studs and reworking the drains to get everything lined up correctly.

Not the easy route; the right one. Worth it in the long run!
