There’s something I respect deeply about old-school craftsmanship.

While my shop is in transition and I’m moving into a new space, I didn’t want this page to go quiet. So instead, I want to introduce you to someone whose work truly deserves to be seen.

My friend Larry, the talent behind Spoons -N- More, handcrafts incredible, unique wooden pieces like the ones you see here.

And here’s something I admire about him…
He doesn’t have a website.
He doesn’t have social media.
He’s not focused on building an online presence.
He just works with wood.

The kind of maker who sands until it’s right. The kind who shapes each curve by hand. The kind who builds pieces meant to be used for years — not just admired on a shelf. That’s the kind of craftsmanship my grandfather taught me to value.

If you’re local and interested in something handmade for your kitchen (or a meaningful gift), send me a message and I’ll connect you with him directly.

There is room for all of us in this craft. 🤎

And don’t worry — I’ll be back in the shop soon. Sawdust flying and beautiful Wudn Thngs in the making.

This shop belonged to my grandpa. He taught me woodworking here, and now I get to pass that knowledge on to my son.

Watching him sand his first project here in the same space feels full-circle in the best way. Craft, patience, and legacy—some things are meant to be handed down.

This is the heart behind everything we make.

End-grain cutting board progress update🪵

This board has been a great learning experience. Today, I scraped off all the excess glue and ran it through the drum sander many MANY times. While I’m happy with how it’s coming together, I definitely ran into a few issues along the way that are worth sharing.

Mistakes I made:
• Mistake #1: I didn’t ensure my initial cuts were perfectly precise. That inaccuracy carried through the build, and I now realize a jig or crosscut sled is essential for these boards.

• Mistake #2: I didn’t make sure all of my squares were lined up perfectly corner-to-corner before and during glue-up, which caused alignment issues later on.

• Mistake #3: All four sides of the board aren’t perfectly straight. From what I understand this isn’t unusual for end-grain boards, but it does mean I’ll need to true the sides using a crosscut sled or my router table.

Biggest takeaway: There are certain steps that have to be done precisely from the very beginning. Accurate cuts upfront are key with end grain—there’s very little room for error later.

That said, I’m really happy with the progress overall, especially for the learning experience.

One win worth sharing: After running the board through the drum sander, I noticed it had some rock and wasn’t completely flat. I identified the high corner and layered masking tape under it until the rock was eliminated. Running it through the drum sander tape-side down flattened the top perfectly, and then I flattened the opposite side. It worked exactly as hoped. I did not use my planer as I have heard many horror stories that involve combing them with end grain boards...

Progress, lessons learned, and moving forward.

This is where the magic starts 👀
My maple and cherry strips have been cut and glued once. After cutting, flipping, and rearranging each piece, they’re now lined up for the second glue-up — the step that turns those strips into a checkered end-grain board.

Now it’s time for more glue, clamps, and a little faith 🪵✨

Finally getting the shop cleaned up so I can start making cool stuff again! I plan on making some beautiful end grain boards next. The only thing stopping me atm is figuring out how to install this stinking bandsaw blade. One thing I hadn't got the chance to learn yet before my Papa passed. So far I have made it as far as getting the previous blade off 🤣

Does anyone knows of any helpful videos or anything on how to make the proper adjustments to accommodate a bigger blade? I've watched tons of videos and so far haven't quite found what I am looking for. Thanks 😊

Finished up a couple of the projects my Papa was working on before he passed for a very good friend of his. It was completely nerve-wracking, but I think they turned out pretty good!

I am deeply saddened to share that my amazing grandpa, who was not only the heart of our family but also the co-founder of Wudn Thngs, passed away very recently.

He built more than just this business—he built a legacy of craftsmanship, integrity, and love. His hands shaped the wood that shaped our company, and his spirit shaped the values we stand for today.

To those who knew him, he was a quiet force of wisdom, kindness and generosity. He was also an artist, a builder, a mentor to myself and many others, and the soul of Wudn Thngs.

We’ll continue to honor his legacy in every piece we create. Rest in peace, Papa. You’ll always be part of our grain.

Also, please bare with me as I learn to navigate this business without my Papa. It will most likely take me a bit of time to regain my footing, but I do plan to honor my Papa's wishes and continue to build and grow Wudn Thngs. Thanks so much to all of you for your love and support.
