As we approach a week of bitter cold temps here is a few tips to follow to avoid heating issues.
1: Do not lower your thermostats when you leave the house. Keep them at 70-72.
2: Open cabinet doors with piping under them at night to allow heat to travel to that space.
3: Make sure all garden hoses are disconnected. It may be necessary to but a hose boot over the spigot also.
4: Replace your furnace return filter. Having maximum air flow across your heat exchanger is critical in these temps.
5: Check the batteries in all thermostats.
6: DO NOT plug electric space heaters into outlet strips.
7: DO NOT run fossil fuel heaters that are not UL approved Inside your home.
8: Check the fuel level of your oil or propane tanks.
