This summer I was lucky enough to get to stay at a house at Horseshoe Bay on Lake LBJ and use a jet ski to explore the lake. I spent some time photographing some of the fascinating homes in the area.

I also caught a pretty dang big fish!

Today we had our Project Kickoff Meeting out in Blanco, TX. I'll be designing two 3,500 s.f. speculative homes for developers out at The Divide, an over 250-acre development with multiple 10-20 acre plots. Not a bad view either!

If you're going to go off-grid, you better have a good building envelope. Design is nearing completion and site excavation commenced last week for the Del Norte Residence, an off-grid 3,000 square foot home designed for a local heavy timber craftsman and his growing family. It has been a pleasure.

Exterior Materials: Stucco, Wood, Galvanized Metal
Interior Materials: Plaster, Terracotta Tile, Wood, Concrete

Additional Home Features: Exposed ceiling joists, dropped living room with custom built in sofas, Rumford fireplaces, cooking fireplace in kitchen with custom ventilation system, large bookshelf wall, luxurious master bedroom and bathroom, efficient design of 4 kids bedrooms, landscaped courtyard, full basement.

The Colorado Cabin is a vacation and rental property to be built on the banks of the Rio Grande River in South Fork, CO. The clients are in the grandparent phase of life and plan to use the 1,800 square foot, 3br/3ba, cabin as a base camp for adventure for themselves and their family. The house minimizes interior square footage while maximizing usability and the abundant views of the surrounding San Juan Mountains. The large, south-facing, outdoor porch and easy access towards the riverfront make upcoming adventures certain. The material pallet relflects the rough, beautiful terrain of Colorado - Shou Sugi Ban wood siding, Corten Steel roofing, and river stone from the site.

A true craftsman and a rare breed these days, contractor Gardner Blount with Blount Construction will be building the home. The slab will be poured in May, 2023.

I enjoyed meeting today with General Contractor Dustin Waters to talk about a few projects he's working on in the Texas Hill Country. I'm excited for what we'll come up with. A big time bonus was the Hill Country drive from San Marcos to Fredericksburg, and all of the inspirational Vernacular Architecture along the way.

This Wimberley Landscape design is the first out of four landscape designs for 4 new homes designed and built by Architect Pax Chagnon, AIA on a 7 acre plot of land. The design incorporates drought-tolerant, heat-resistant plantings, limestone and mulch from the property, and uses 100% rainwater capture. The outdoor patio area is equipped with a grill, a seating area, and is oriented to watch Texas sunsets. There is a garden with fresh herbs and peach and olive trees. 3 Texas Redbuds are lined up with the front windows, giving the client a perfect view towards them. The landscape will be installed in spring of 2023.
