03/13/2026: It’s Fri-yay!! I’m happy to see tomatoes doing well. I finally potted up a few things that have been ready for a while. I’m changing jobs in 40 days and won’t be here since I’ll be on the road, so I’m stopping planting more seeds. If some of my seeds don’t germinate, I’m fine with it.

03/11/2026: Tomatoes have entered the chat! Now if my peppers would quit being pains in the butt, I’ll be happy!

03/09/2026: It’s been a few days lol. Honestly, there hasn’t been much progress for germination. I think I have an issue beyond the soil. When I took the domes off there was a strong sulfur smell, something I never noticed before since I’m not doing anything different other than the trays. So, what I’ve started recently I’m not putting the domes on. I could have seeds that are no longer viable, but some super steak tomatoes popped up that are 2-3 years old. Nonetheless, I’ll keep things going and see what happens. They have until the first weekend of April to cooperate lol.

03/01/2026: Got a new seed order in with some replacements for seeds I’m out of and some new additions. And I’m reminded I may be out of a few other seeds 😑.

This weekend was busy with indoor percussion competitions, so I didn’t get too much. But, I started some Jimmy Nardello, Purple Cayenne, Orange Habanero, and Bhut Jolokia Ghost peppers.

No more new seeds have germinated and has me concerned. I haven’t done anything different than usual other than the to-go containers, but I know those can’t be the issue. But, I’ll use the trays I have left and soil block or 72 cell tray the rest of what I have.

Disappointed, but not discouraged. Have you had any fails yet this season?

02/27/2026: February is probably my busiest month when it comes to seed starting. Early March is a close second though. I’ll be out of space on my shelves after this weekend. 😬

Artichokes are still making progress. No peppers have germinated yet. And my heat mat is just for a 10x20 tray, so some will have to wait their turn I guess.

I might start soil blocking the rest of these veggies and to-go tray the flowers and herbs. We’ll see what happens.

Another week closer to spring! What’s getting planted this weekend?

02/26/2026

02/27/2026: Okie dokie artichokie! That’s all I have today. No major updates except some shallots have emerged. The seeds are questionable since they were packed for 2023, so we’ll see what happens.

I thought I saw a pepper had germinated, but I couldn’t find it. So maybe I’m just tired. I don’t know anymore. It’s all a blur! 🤪

02/25/2026

02/25/26: Artichokes are taking off after the pot up. I screwed up though and didn’t put enough soil in a bunch of pots. My mistake was not compressing the soil lightly before putting the plant in and the level dropped after I watered them in. It happens. They’ll probably get potted up again before they go out anyway so I’ll remedy it then.

This was the first year of cold stratification and so far, I’m not seeing much progress from half of what I tried to start. I have time to try again, so I might this weekend or in the coming week.

Also gave the onions another cut. I intend to get them in 72 cell trays, I just haven’t had the capacity to get it done. With work, dental work, and not feeling the best, it’s been a struggle.

But, regardless, I’m always here if you need help gardening. I’ll “meet you where you are” in the process. Starting seeds? Me too. Clearing a garden space? Me too. Trying a new process or variety? Me too. So, leave a comment and tell me what you have going in your gardening journey!

02/24/2026: Celery and rosemary have made their appearance today.

I potted up the artichoke yesterday. I might only keep 2-3 and let the others go at my plant sale. I’m the only one that would probably eat them, so one to eat, the others for flower.

I’m running out of shelves until I get some germination happening with the peppers so I can consolidate them in a 72 cell tray. Which, I need more trays 🫤. I might switch to blocking my tomatoes this weekend. But, we have a big percussion competition with my middle kid, so I might not have time.

If you need help growing your next garden from seed, and you haven’t started yet, I’m here to help! Just send me a DM or comment below with any questions. Happy growing!
