Did you know - plants communicate?
Oh I know, not using words, but chemicals - pheromones and hormones- and using a complex fungal connection of mycelium. They can transmit to others their condition, attract insects, deter bad insects, warn other plants that they have been eaten by insects or damaged otherwise - a whole host of communication we humans are just beginning to see the surface of. They are ALIVE. What brought this on?
Well, someone tried to compare plants to buildings and claim they're akin to a shoe factory, which is about as true as calling the human body a factory is. We don't know if they feel, but we DO know they can, in fact, talk - in their own way. I don't think anyone who's ever worked with plants and been in nature - truly been - would claim plants aren't alive. Life knows no bounds and our lack of understanding is no excuse for lack of respect. Ignorance is no excuse for arrogance.
