This little beauty is one of my favorite herbs. Skullcap, scuttelaria lateriflora, is a nervine and adaptagen. It is used in treating anxiety and is a calming herb to help with sleep. I love it so much I’m on a quest to find as many varieties as I can (said to be about 250). Use fresh leaves in tea or make a tincture from fresh leaves. You will be glad to have this beautiful herb in your life!

On this Earth Day, let’s fight a little harder for regenerative farming, against big ag, against policies that clear cut old growth forests for profit, against fertilizer runoff killing ocean life. Let’s demand solutions for climate change, not wars for oil. Let’s advocate for clean energy. It starts with each of us and every one of us must do our part. Be the change. ❤️

Ask any herbalist what his or her favorite herb is and they will say nettles. They are a powerhouse superfood for your body and make lovely teas and infusions. We will have a few small plants at our open house this Saturday!

We have a lot of biodiversity in our gardens and this is one of our winter stowaways in our greenhouse, happily living out her life eating slugs and such. Today she’s in a pot of goldenseal and yes, you can purchase it from us. Toad optional.

It’s been a beautiful evening to work outside. I’ve been transplanting goodies for open house next weekend! Tonight’s menu included anise, sesame and sweet Annie.
We also got interested in dye plants so we have a whole host of them if you’d like to try your hand at it. We have dyers’s chamomile and Dyers coreopsis, weld, madder and Japanese indigo. Come see us!
