“How can I tell if my vent has a roof exit, or a wall exit?”
1 - Roof exit for dryer vents
2- Wall exit for dryer vents
A lot of houses here in Texas have roof exit due to washers and dryer setups being placed in the garage.
Roof exits constantly cause blockage over time, as lint and debris is having to fight gravity as it exits the vent. We usually recommend that you get your vents serviced once a year (or until you notice you are having issues)
Wall exits are for more newer houses where the dryer is in separate room that has the vent direct through the wall and outside the house. These are generally alot quicker to service as we don’t need to get on your roof anymore! Common issues we see, is the outside cover to the vent is broken and wind pushes leaves and dirt into the vent, ultimately creating a blockage.
If you have lived at your house/rented for a long time and did not know it needs to be serviced, give us a call and we will be happy to help!
