Don’t forget! this Saturday, May 23 (9:30am–3:00pm) will be our LAST open nursery day of the Spring season at Cotton Top Nursery 🌱

If you’ve been meaning to come out for berry plants, herbs, pollinator plants, edible landscaping ideas, or just to see what we’ve been growing, this is a great chance to visit before we transition into our summer nursery schedule.

We still have a wide selection of:
• blueberries
• blackberries
• raspberries
• herbs & medicinal plants
• pollinator plants
…and more!

As we move out of spring season, we’ll be shifting toward:
• appointments
• scheduled open nursery days
• preorder & pickup windows for larger or specific plant orders

This will allow us to focus on propagation, greenhouse expansion, irrigation upgrades, and growing even more plants for next season while still helping serious growers and customers find what they need throughout the summer.

If there’s something specific you’re looking for, feel free to message us ahead of time so we can have it ready for pickup.

As spring planting season begins to wind down, we want to thank everyone who has supported Cotton Top Nursery this year. What started as a small backyard edible nursery continues to grow because of your support, plant questions, and visits.

We have TWO Spring Saturdays left this season:

🌱 Friday, May 23 — 9:30am–3:00pm

If you’ve been wanting to come out for berry plants, herbs, pollinator plants, edible landscaping ideas, or just to see what we’re growing, now is a great time to visit before we transition into our summer schedule.

We won’t have everything with us at the market, but if you’d like to prepay and arrange pickup for larger items like blueberry bushes, blackberries, or raspberries, just send us a message!

We’ll also be open this Saturday from 9:30am–3:00pm at Cotton Top Nursery for our Spring Saturdays with an even bigger selection available. 🌿

Opening day is quickly approaching and we are so excited to see you on May 6 from 11:00-1:00. While we’re counting down the days we want to take some time to introduce you to our farmers for this season!!!

Joining us for the first time this season is offering plants and design services!

Chris Marshall is the founder of Cotton Top Nursery, a family-run edible plant nursery based in Stokes County, North Carolina. Raised right here in Stokes County in a large family with deep agricultural roots, Chris developed a deep passion for growing food, sustainability, and using what God has provided to create something lasting.

Cotton Top Nursery focuses on edible plants: berries, fruiting shrubs, nut trees, herbs, and soil-building plants, selected to help people grow their own food in any size space. Beyond plants, Chris offers hands-on services including garden consultations, custom garden design based on space and goals, installations, garden clean-outs, and plant-sitting services to help customers maintain what they’ve built.

Rooted in a strong Christian foundation, Chris believes in stewardship of the land and growing with what God gives. His mission is to make food-growing simple and accessible while helping build stronger, more self-sufficient communities through shared knowledge, faith, and local connection.

Chris has been married to his wife, Antoinette, for eight years, and together they are raising their two children, Silas and Aubriella, with the same values of family, stewardship, and growing together.
