MIDDLETOWN, VA โ Today, the Town of Middletown proudly planted a stunning 20-foot Norway Spruce Christmas Tree at the Middletown Veterans Memorial on Main Street, thanks to a generous $7,500 donation from Wawa. The donation, secured through negotiating efforts, ensures the continuation of the townโs cherished holiday tradition.
The new tree replaces Middletownโs beloved cedar tree along Reliance Road, which had served as the townโs official Christmas tree for 12 years. Due to necessary road improvements, including the addition of a turning lane for Wawa, the cedar tree will sadly be removed. Recognizing the significance of this tree to the community, Wawa and Regional Manager Jeb Bell worked closely with town leadership to find a meaningful replacement. The Norway Spruce will grow to a height of 40-60 feet tall and a width of 25-30 feet, averaging 2-3 feet of growth per year, with a life expectancy of 200 years!
โMayor Harbaughโs story of the town Christmas tree was a real inspiration to us, and we are really excited to be joining the Middletown community,โ said Jeb Bell. โWe had such a wonderful time at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony this past year and are honored to support this tradition moving forward.โ
The new Norway Spruce was sourced from Jeffers Farms in Pennsylvania and transported to Middletown with donated services from Shine Trucking, courtesy of owner Brad Hough. Upon arrival, Boyer Landscaping led by owner Lew Boyer, expertly planted the tree with the assistance of H&W Construction, which provided discounted crane rentals and additional support.
All those who played a role in bringing this new Christmas tree to Middletown will be recognized at the Middletown Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 28, at 4:45 PM.
โFor the last dozen years, the Middletown Christmas Tree has been a symbol of unity, hope and holiday spirit for our town,โ said Mayor Charles Harbaugh IV. โThanks to Wawa, Regional Manager Jeb Bell, Boyer Landscapes and Owner Lew Boyer, Shine Transportation and Owner Brad Hough, H&W Construction, and our dedicated Maintenance Department, this new tree will continue to bring joy to our residents for years to come.โ
