SUPER UNUSUAL BEGONIA JUST IN!

The "color changing begonia" is a unique indoor houseplant known as Begonia soli-mutata (often called the Sun-Changing Begonia). Available at Wicked for $9.99

Native to Brazil, it is prized for its pebbly, quilted leaves that shift in color depending on how much light they receive.

A single feature usually makes a plant exceptional but Begonia soli-mutata has several that make it special.

This species is mainly grown for its foliage. The uneven upper surface of its heart-shaped leaves make it looks as if the plant has goose bumps.

Soli-mutata means “sun change”; its leaves change color depending on the light intensity. The more light the plant receives, the more its dark green leaves with lime green veins turn red. Begonia soli-mutata is a colourful addition to a terrarium or any room in the home when grown as a houseplant.

Begonias enjoy lots of bright indirect light, but no direct sun. These can grow in artificial light like fluorescent, although experiences vary. Let the top of the soil dry before watering again. They enjoy a good soak, but need to dry out mostly between watering. They like warmer temperatures and should not be subjected to under 60 degrees. Although Begonias like humidity, they do not like being misted. Because of their textured surface, molds and mildew can form if the plant leaves are overly wet.

Fittonia, or nerve plant, is a low-growing tropical houseplant known for its striking, colorful veins (red, pink, or white) on deep green leaves, making it popular for terrariums and humid environments like bathrooms. It needs bright, indirect light, consistently moist (but not soggy) soil, and high humidity, wilting dramatically when dry but recovering quickly after watering.

The Fittonia boasts of oval leaves with white, silver, pink, or red veins, making it an eye-catching, pet safe addition to your home or office. While this plant loves moisture and water, Fittonia care is not too difficult, making it a beginner friendly plant. Also, those striking leaves do their fair share of contributing to a healthy environment, as this is one of the best air purifying plants. If you’re looking for a delightful hanging plant that’s a breeze to maintain, your hunt is over.

Peperomia tetraphylla is a popular, low-maintenance houseplant known for its cascading stems and thick, coin-shaped, succulent-like leaves. Prized for its compact trailing habit, it is an excellent pet-friendly choice for shelves, desks, and hanging baskets.

She looks like a String of Pearls on steroids and is super easy to grow!

This plant looks the best in moderate to high light. Be sure to keep it out of the hot direct sunlight as this will cause the leaves and stems to sunburn.

These plants are known to be slow growers, especially in lower light conditions.

The best way to water this plant is simple. When the soil is dry, water it again. She hates wet feet!

Pinching back the stems in early spring will help maximize a lush appearance by encouraging more branching.
