As I sit here all warm and cozy tonight. My mind won't stop wandering back to the house I was at today. I had the honor and privilege of working with the K**b Noster Senior Care today to help an elder lady get some heat. We only recently found out about this, the woman has been without heat for at least 2 years. I walked across my chilly floor, it is currently 4 degrees out, my mind traveled to this woman and how cold she must have been at times over these past two years. And I canot find any pride in what little I did. All I can find is sorrow that she had to suffer for 2 years before we found out. Please check on your neighbors and seniors in your area. If you can not personally help them contact someone who can.

I know it has been a while since I have posted. Life is busy. However....
it is going to be hot and get hotter. Many people will have problems in this heat with their AC keeping up.
Here are a few suggestions:
1. Close curtains or shades. The sun will warm the house quickly, so cover those windows.
2. Change the filter. If it has been more than 30 days, change it! Not only will it help cool your house, but it will save on electricity.
3. Close the front and back door. When your AC kicks on it pulls air into it from the inside of the house through return air vents. Any open door or window will pull that hot air from outside into the house making it harder to cool.
4. Please, do not turn the thermostat down if it is not getting to the temp you have it set on. Seriously, if it can't get it down to 74° it will not get it down to 68°.
5. Clean your return air vents. That is how your AC (and heat) gets air. If they are covered in dust, animal hair, etc. The system cannot work properly because of the air blockage.
6. Watch for freezing on the copper lines going into the house from the outside unit. Also look for freezing on the inside copper lines as well. Those freezing are an indicator that something is not working right. However, we cannot work on a frozen system. It needs to thaw out. So, turn the system off and then call us. We will get there as soon as we can.
Oh and if you're hot and inside with the air, go outside for 10 minutes, you'll feel like you walked into a deep freeze when you come back in! :-)
Stay cool, stay safe and have a wonderful day!

Let's talk about hard water.
Missouri has pretty hard water and K**b Noster's water is HARD!
This is my humidifier and it was sputtering water. I bought a bottle of CLR and placed the pump of the humidifier in the sink with CLR and water. This is the result. That's sediment caused by the hard water. Now, imagine your water heater. This is the same thing that your water heater does but on a much bigger level. This can cause the element/thermocouple on your water heater to go out. It can also cause you to run out of hot water quickly. Or have extremely hot water that cools as you shower.
Need a new water heater or your water heater serviced? Give me a call!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!
It is HOT outside, please make sure your filters on your AC unit has been changed!! If you don't know where that filter might be, please call me at 660-563-9772 and we can discuss finding that filter. The AC companies are running their tails off repairing Air Conditioners and it is a waste of their time and your money to have them come out and change the filter. Thank you!
Stay cool! And remember there are a lot of people that work in this heat!

It is going to be hot today! Here are some tips for keeping cool.
1. Close blinds/curtains - you can alternate closing the east facing blinds in the morning and the west facing in the evenings.
2. A fan blowing on low feels cooler than a fan blowing on high.
3. CHANGE YOUR FILTER!!- if it has been more than a month- change it!
4. Turning your thermostat down if it is not getting to temp will not work. There is something wrong.
5. Don't turn on your oven and expect the house to stay cool (duh!) and that goes for the dryer too!
6. If you have to be out, wear light colored clothing, sun screen and drink LOTS of water.
7. Check on your pets, your neighbors and the elderly. Notice any routine changes in any of them- check on them.

And as always, if you have questions or think you might be having problems with your HVAC system, give me a call!
