Still have about a week or so to finish up this project, weather depending. A lot of hard work and dedication have gone into this trophy lake project. We started by clearing over six acres. The top 10 feet of soil was sandy loam and wouldn't hold water, so we dug a core trench 10-13 feet deep, 4 feet wide, and 2,200 feet in length, and packed it with heavy clay to ensure it would hold water. We've built up over 1,330 feet of levee, 50 feet in width, and in places, it's 13 feet high, rolled and packed in lifts. We've topped the levee with topsoil to be hydro-seeded. There will be tons of structure, featuring shallows for spawn areas, ridges, cliffs, hard-bottom points, a deep channel, and a forest area. Thousands of loads of material have been excavated and hauled on this project.
