Fireplace Technician Apprentice
Job Type: 30 - 40 hours per week | Entry-Level / Apprenticeship
About the Role
We're looking for a motivated Fireplace Technician Apprentice to join our team and learn the
trade of installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fireplaces, chimneys, and venting
systems. This is a hands-on apprenticeship designed to train you toward becoming a certified
technician, working alongside experienced professionals on residential and light commercial
jobs.
What You'll Do
β Assist lead technicians with installation of wood, gas and electric fireplaces, electrical
connections, gas supply lines and fireplace system accessories
β Learn to inspect chimneys, flues, and venting systems for safety hazards, creosote
buildup, and structural issues
β Help perform routine cleanings, sweeps, and maintenance visits
β Support diagnosis and repair of fireplaces, electrical connections, gas line supply and
fireplace system accessories
β Load and organize tools, parts, and equipment for daily job sites
β Help maintain, clean and keep in good working order all tools and equipment
β Maintain accurate service records and job site documentation
β Follow all safety protocols, including ladder safety, confined space awareness, and
proper PPE use
β Provide friendly, professional communication with customers, fellow employees, other
trade persons, inspectors, and others.
β Continuing education is required for this position. Paid training will be provided
β Study toward relevant fireplace industry certifications (e.g., CSIA, NFI) as you progress
What We're Looking For
β High school diploma or GED
β Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
β Willingness to work at heights, in tight spaces, and in varying weather conditions
β Comfortable lifting 80+ lbs with or without assistance
β Standing/kneeling for extended periods
β Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn
β Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
β Good communication skills for customer-facing situations
β Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and input information into software
apps to document conditions of fireplace systems and descriptions of work performed β No prior experience required β training provided
β Background check and drug test required
Nice to Have (Not Required)
β Experience in HVAC, construction, masonry, electrical, or construction helper
β Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
β Safety training and knowledge

Physical Requirements
Ability to climb ladders and roofs, work in attics and crawlspaces, lift heavy equipment, and
tolerate exposure to dust, and varying temperatures from below freezing to 90+ degrees.
