Kuna always shows up for its own, and this is one of those chances to make a real impact.

The Kuna Food Bank is kicking off the Idaho Gives campaign May 4th–7th, and every dollar goes directly toward helping local families right here in our community. If you’re able, consider making a donation or sharing this with someone who can.

They’re also hosting a free community breakfast on April 25th from 8–10am at Bernie Fisher Park. It’s a great opportunity to connect, support a good cause, and spend time with your neighbors.

Small towns stay strong when people look out for each other. Let’s show up for Kuna.

🌳 Most Common Tree Questions in Boise

Living in the City of Trees means homeowners often have questions about tree care. Here are some of the most common ones we hear from Boise homeowners:

When is the best time to prune trees?
Late winter to early spring is usually the best time because trees are dormant and pruning encourages healthy growth.

How often should trees be trimmed?
Most mature trees should be pruned every 3–5 years. Younger trees may need trimming every 2–3 years to help them grow properly.

How do I know if my tree is sick or dying?
Warning signs include dead branches, mushrooms growing near the trunk, cracked bark, leaning trees, or leaves changing color too early.

What tree diseases are common in Boise?
In the Treasure Valley we often see issues like fire blight, cytospora canker, and Dutch elm disease.

Can I trim my own trees?
Small pruning jobs can sometimes be done safely, but larger trees or heavy branches should be handled by professionals.

If you have questions about your trees or want a professional opinion, feel free to reach out. Healthy trees add beauty, shade, and value to your property.

🌳 Common Tree Questions from Kuna Homeowners

Living in Kuna means dealing with hot summers, wind, and fast-growing shade trees. Here are some of the most common questions we hear:

When should trees be pruned in Kuna?
Late winter or early spring is usually the best time to prune trees before new growth starts.

How often should trees be trimmed?
Most trees benefit from pruning every 3–5 years, while younger trees may need trimming every 2–3 years to develop strong structure.

How do I know if my tree is unhealthy?
Look for warning signs like dead branches, cracked bark, mushrooms at the base, or leaves changing color too early.

Healthy pruning and regular inspections help trees survive Kuna’s hot, dry summers.

Ash trees around the Treasure Valley often end up looking like this — tall, dense, and packed with vertical shoots — and it’s usually the result of years of well-intentioned but improper pruning.

Ash trees respond very aggressively to heavy topping or large heading cuts. When the top of the tree is cut back too hard, the tree goes into survival mode and sends out dozens (sometimes hundreds) of fast-growing vertical shoots called epicormic growth. These shoots grow quickly, but they attach weakly and crowd the canopy, which eventually creates a tangled structure that is more prone to storm breakage and long-term decline.

Over time, these shoots compete with each other for dominance, creating dense clusters and tight branch unions like you see in this photo. Without corrective structural pruning, the tree keeps repeating the cycle — more topping, more shoots, more congestion.

The good news is that this can often be corrected with proper structural pruning. By selectively reducing competing leaders, improving branch spacing, and guiding the tree back toward a stable structure, we can dramatically improve both the safety and longevity of the tree.

Healthy trees don’t happen by accident — they’re guided over time.

If you have ash trees in the Treasure Valley that look like this, it may be time for a structural pruning plan.

Storm-Damaged Trees in the Treasure Valley

Strong winds and storms are common throughout the Treasure Valley, and they can leave trees stressed, damaged, or structurally compromised. After a wind event, homeowners often notice broken limbs, hanging branches, split trunks, or trees leaning in ways they weren’t before. These issues can quickly become safety hazards if they are not properly evaluated.

At Priceless Tree Care LLC, we help homeowners in Kuna, Boise, Meridian, and Nampa assess and manage storm-damaged trees. Our team inspects trees for structural weaknesses such as cracked leaders, torn branch attachments, root movement, and hidden canopy damage. In many cases, proper ANSI A300 structural pruning can remove hazardous limbs, reduce weight on compromised branches, and restore safer tree structure.

Sometimes storm damage exposes deeper problems that make a tree unsafe to keep. When that happens, we provide safe tree removal and stump grinding to eliminate risk and protect nearby homes, fences, and utilities.

Storm damage is not always obvious from the ground. A tree may appear fine but still contain weakened branches that could fail during the next wind event. A professional inspection helps identify these risks early.

Priceless Tree Care LLC proudly serves the Treasure Valley.
