I am writing to demand that you immediately pause the removal of trees from PUSD campuses as part of your soil remediation project. I do not support the removal of these trees. The approach by Superintendent Blanco and Mr. Dunning should be more closely examined prior to ex*****on. There have been many soil remediation projects due to the Eaton Fire, none of which have required tree removal. To the contrary, tree roots help sequester contaminants, aiding in soil remediation. Additionally, these mature trees, some of which are over 100 years old, provide invaluable shade, air quality, and water quality benefits. It will take decades of growth and maintenance to recreate the benefits that these trees already provide.
Our trees are an asset to the District, and I would like to see them preserved and protected.
