While some anonymous people and the admin of Friends and Family continue to attack what we do for our community, I want to set a few things straight. We have also been blocked from that group for some obsessive reason.

Claims that we are making “massive profits” or improperly using company names are completely false. We are not operating under or using the name of any corporation or business in our display work, and we have done our due diligence regarding fair use. In fact, we’ve gone further to ensure no company names are used in our work at all.

For those curious, our light shows are largely funded out of our own pockets. Yes, we offset a small portion through some 3D printing projects related to the show, but as we did when we started, proceeds beyond costs have been donated to a local food bank, and we expect to do something similar again this year.

Recently, one of our website suppliers is closing, costing us significant money in signage, website work, and labor. That’s unfortunate — but we’ll keep moving forward. We’ll continue investing our time, effort, and money to bring joy to the community during the holidays.

In fact, we’re returning today from a Halloween and Christmas expo where, once again, we invested in making future displays even better.

For clarity: “Masthope” is a geographic area, not a corporation or business. We are not using the name “Masthope Mountain Community,” nor are we using any logos, marks, or branding associated with businesses such as Ski Big Bear.

How much we spend is frankly nobody’s business — but yes, we invest a lot, both financially and personally, because we choose to do this. It’s something our family enjoys, and neighbors sometimes even pitch in to help.

If anyone has questions or concerns, feel free to speak with me directly or message me anytime. I’d much rather have a real conversation than see anonymous accusations.

Also, for those continuing to speculate about our operations: anything we do is handled legally and properly through appropriate channels.

Most importantly, despite the noise, we’re going to keep doing what we do — bringing happiness, creativity, and community spirit to the holiday seasons.

And for the record, since we’ve been permanently banned from posting in the group where some of these false allegations are being made, this is one of the few places I can even respond.

We’ll keep pushing forward.

Our best guess? The lights were too bright. The music was too festive. The holiday cheer levels exceeded recommended limits. 🎄⚡

I find it unacceptable that Masthope families are penalized simply because a child turned the qualifying age shortly after the hard cutoff date for owner ski season passes. Even if the policy is being revised slightly, it was created by this same board majority—and in doing so, they forgot your children. This impacts only a small number of owners, but it matters. These kids deserve to get on the slopes with their peers and keep Masthope family-oriented. Masthope Lights will use what little profit we earn from the 3D store to help subsidize these passes, and I’m confident we can find a simple, safe way for neighbors to help neighbors so no child is left out over a date on a calendar. A few board members did try again today to fix this, but the effort was shut down. Is Masthope—or RMC—really hurt by a small handful of four-year-olds on the slopes? I don’t think so.
