Today,
September 10, 2025, we witnessed something unthinkable in this country. Charlie Kirk was murdered at an event in Utah. A husband, a father, a son of God was struck down for no other reason than his outspoken belief in the God of the Bible and his bold proclamation of the Gospel. Tonight, I am grieving not only for this nation, but especially for his bride and his children, whose lives have been shattered and for the weight they must now carry, and for what they have lost.
But I also grieve for you America, It has been said since the days of President Obama that this is no longer a Christian nation. But the truth is, America has not been truly Christian for most of its time as the world’s most prominent power. What happened today was more than an act of violence. It was a crossing of a line that evil we have allowed to run rampant in this country will not easily retreat from.
Christians will undoubtedly be facing their maker sooner than they expected for doing less than Charlie did in the coming days months and years. Dear Christians, Now is the time to be praying for your enemies, and especially for the enemies of the cross. Charlie is at home with the Living God that he loved and was obedient to. He was not perfect, but he was a son of God.Today was not simply the death of a man, it was a display of hatred toward the very faith that once gave this nation its light. It is a horrible thing for anyone to be murdered. But to be murdered in America for your faith? This is martyrdom, and it should wake us up!
Christians, do not be surprised. Jesus told us plainly, “They will hate you, because they hated Me first.” The time we have read about has arrived, when following Christ faithfully may cost you your life. Charlie’s death shows us that even here, in the land we once thought safe, those who speak truth may pay the ultimate price.
This is why it matters that you know what the cost is to follow the real Jesus.
Charlie’s Jesus was one he was willing to be obedient to and even give his life for. Will today make you shrink back or will it remind and encourage you to shine your light in dark places? The light has been fading in America for a long time, and not because the light of truth is less bright, but because the lights have been compromised a little at a time until turned off one by one for centuries. I remember the words “The compromise we make today is the standard we set for tomorrow”. No one hides their light under a bushel, but they hold it openly for the whole house to see. These are both true statements, but some people act like they have light while they are living in darkness. So if there’s no light left in your home, or one day in your country, look back and examine the compromises you and your past generations have made.
Some think Charlie's light was snuffed out today, but he simply handed the light to millions in this country. What will you do with yours? Will this moment cause you to dim the light further in fear, or will it remind you of the true cost of discipleship that you counted before deciding to follow Jesus. Will it stir you to shine brighter in the darkness? The light of Christ will not grow dim, but it is time to pay whatever price God calls us to as believers and stop compromising so others can find their way.
Now, more than ever, we must guard our hearts and our minds. Do not let bitterness creep in. Do not allow anger and bitterness to take root and poison your witness. Evil strikes every day, but today we witnessed it, and we are not called to repay evil with evil, we are called to obey Christ, to love even our enemies, and to pray for those who despise the cross and us, and Yes, even for those who cheered Charlie’s death.
This is the razor’s edge of hiding God’s Word in your heart, not shrinking back into fear or rising up in rage, but bowing down in prayer, pleading with God for mercy on our enemies, and holding fast to the hope of eternal life.
Nehemiah, was a man in the old testament, and Nehemiah’s prayer was, “Forgive us, God, for it is I and my father’s house who have sinned.” This nation has strayed far, and the Church with it. Revival will not come through vengeance or political might but through humility, repentance, and intercession and like Charlie Kirk knew well, They will not know unless someone tells them!
We must strengthen what remains because it is about to die. We have to wake up.
And to those reading this who do not know Christ, it may sound foolish to hear that there is room in heaven even for those who mock, hate, or kill God’s people. But it is the truth. There is forgiveness even for you. The same God who forgave the soldiers who crucified His only Son still has forgiveness to all who will turn to Him. And there’s a reason you need Him too.
You were not made to exist by accident, without Him you cannot know why you are here at all. And you’re not alone.
Every human being wakes up into a world they did not choose, carrying longings they cannot explain. You didn’t design yourself. You didn’t ask to be born. You didn’t choose the ache for meaning, for love, for permanence, for justice, for beauty, for belonging. These things rise up in you, unbidden, like thirst in the desert. You can chase them in work, relationships, pleasure, causes, even religion, but none of those things explain why you exist in the first place.
Without God, your life can only ever be a string of fleeting moments, good ones, bad ones, and then nothing. The greatest joy is temporary, the deepest love will end in death, and the highest purpose you give yourself will vanish when you are gone. You can’t escape that reality on your own. And the truth is, you weren’t meant to.
The most existential reason you need God is because only He can tell you who you are and why you are here. Without Him, you are left to guess, and every answer you invent collapses under its own weight. With Him, you discover that your longings are not cruel accidents, they are signals. They are reminders that you were made for more than breath and dust, more than survival and self invention.
And “more” is not a vague idea. It’s not just some abstract purpose. It’s relationship with the One who made you, who knows you better than you know yourself, who alone can anchor your existence in something that won’t dissolve the moment you die. Without Him, even the brightest joys slip through your fingers. With Him, nothing is wasted, not even your suffering, not even your death. Charlie’s was not wasted today!
If today you find yourself celebrating this man’s death, I plead with you as would he, look deeper. The same Gospel that compelled Charlie to speak is the same Gospel that says you are loved, that Christ died even for you, and that eternal life is offered freely. Hell is real, but so is eternity with God. Both stand before you. Choose life.
Charlie is at home with the Lord he loved. His fight is finished. Ours is not.
Christians, let this tragedy burn into your hearts as both warning and invitation. Evil is here in America, but the Church can not be silenced. Do not despair. Do not hate. Pray. Forgive. Shine. Love without apology. And stand unshaken in the truth that Jesus Christ is risen, and His Kingdom will never fall.
