Here at Snip & Grow we're busy building up the land in our compost garden by using mycelium blocks from our favorite local mushroom peeps, ALL CAPS Gourmet Mushrooms! Did you know mycelium is what allows mushrooms to grow?! In the garden, mycelium also helps to increase nutrients available to plants and promotes root growth by adding oxygen to the soil and releasing nitrogen, phosphate, and other micronutrients!! We just love nature!!

Did you know that the here at Snip & Grow, we offer a completely FREE composting program?! Simply drive by Top's Appliances & Cabinetry at 5826 Johnston Street in Lafayette and drive around to the back of the building to pick up your FREE compost bucket! Once you fill your bucket with compostable items such as uncooked fruit and veggie peels, teabags, tea leaves, coffee grounds, egg shells, and plain paper from things such as bills you can drop your bucket back off at Tops and grab a new bucket! We also except things such as twigs, sticks, leaves, hay, straw, dead plants and flowers, and lawn mowing's IF these items are placed in garbage bags and dropped off! We make composting easy peasy!

The composted material is used by The Garden at The Market at Tops to grow seasonal herbs and vegetables that are then used by some of our local small business owners to prepare food in our Cultivation Kitchen, sold to locally owned restaurant owners, sold as ready to use cuttings, ready to grow plants, or dried for use in cooking and teas! Welcome!! Here at Snip & Grow, brought to you by The Garden at The Market at Tops, we use organic practices by utilizing rain water, yard waste, compostable food scraps, and recycling materials without the use of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides in an effort to produce clean food worth sharing. We're transforming 15,000 square feet of local land in Lafayette into a permanent agricultural area by relying on a self-sustaining ecosystem in our garden space to grow seasonal herbs, vegetables, and local natives. Through these methods we are rebuilding the soil and creating a thriving ecosystem allowing us to provide local businesses, restaurants, chefs, and the community with clean products we can all be proud of!
