Where did I get my passion for painting? My daddy.
You see, I grew up in a paint store. Back then you bought your paint at your local hardware store. So my dad would take me and my sister’s on Saturdays to go pick up paint. We loved going because we got to ride in my dad‘s paint van. And back then his paint van only had two seat seats. The driver seat and the passenger seat. In between those two seats was an ole’ igloo, red ice chest. And that’s where we would ride! No seatbelt, just hanging out with Dad! And in season, the hardware store would be selling baby chicks. So we loved going to play with them! I will always cherish those memories! I always wanted to be like my dad… And here I am a chip off the ole’ block!
And what I create everyday is a process I learned from his experience and wisdom. He is the developer of this artistry. Dad, I can’t say thank you enough for you stewarding me into who I am today! My life is a testimony of it!
What my dad has taught me:
-seek the Lord
-a simple paint brush can be used for a successful career
and to glorify God
-the power of a prayer garden
-always have chocolate candies on hand
-how to change a flat
-how to check my oil
-always have a good tell story to tell
-overall, my dad has taught me how to just figure things out. And that has changed my whole life. I am who I am because of his strong, easy influence. Dad, thank you for all the life lessons! I’m proud to be your legacy.
I love you, Dad! (Rice Sutton)
