The rain, heat, and humidity have been brutal lately, and it’s not just us feeling it. The bees are, too. 🐝🥵
High humidity doesn’t just make the hive feel hotter, it also makes it harder for bees to control moisture inside. To keep their brood (baby bees) at the right temperature and humidity, the colony has to work overtime.
You may notice bees clustering outside the hive. This is called “bearding.” It helps reduce crowding and heat inside. At the same time, other bees stay inside fanning their wings to circulate air, cool things down, and help remove excess moisture. 🧔🏻♂️🐝
It’s all part of their incredible teamwork to protect the next generation. 💛🐝
