Insulating When Bathroom Remodeling

Insulating when bathroom remodeling is essential and highly recommended for comfort, energy savings, soundproofing, and mold prevention. Building code requires that all conditioned spaces be insulated. Conditioned spaces include outside walls, attics, and raised foundation (crawl space) flooring. Unconditioned spaces include inside (interior) walls.

Generally, attics require R30 to R49, floors R19, and walls R13 to R21 insulation. R-value measures thermal resistance (higher is better).

A year later DAD’s completed one more project for me, another complete bathroom and bedroom remodel and new carpet for the entire house. I am very happy with the options Dan suggested. The carpet is super soft and the green bathroom looks beautiful - check out the video!

A shower pony wall is also known as a shower knee wall and shower half wall. These walls allow for an open shower design while also offering privacy. Shower pony walls are usually in the front of the shower and separate the shower and the bathroom cabinet.

They can also be in the back of the shower. In some cases, a shower pony wall can be in both the front and the back of the shower. In all cases, there is typically a glass panel on the top of the pony wall to keep water inside the shower.

Knowing when to remodel your bathroom can be confusing. Interior Designers usually suggest 5 years. Realtors typically will say 10 years while industry experts frequently say 10-15 years. Others say 7-10 years. Who is right? In my over 45 years’ experience remodeling bathrooms, I have never found the correct age to remodel a bathroom. What I have discovered is when to remodel your bathroom has far more to do with use, quality of fixtures, and who originally built or remodeled the bathroom last.
