Firm partners Ron McCormack and Ken Etten have made the decision to retire and close McCormack + Etten Architects at the end of March, 2024. After 32 years managing M+E and 20+ years in the business prior to this firm, Ron and Ken are ready to move on to new chapters in their lives.

Ken has retired in Lake Geneva and is enjoying more family time, while remaining active on many local boards and organizations.

Ron has moved to Pahoa, Hawaii, where he returns to private architectural practice and enjoying being near family on the Big Island.

We wish to say thank you to the many clients we have worked with over the years, who have entrusted their hopes and dreams to our creativity. Our clients have brought us so much joy and satisfaction, and we are very proud of our portfolio of work that we trust will stand the test of time.

We thank the many contractors, associates, and vendors we have worked with who have supported our firm and brought our vision to reality.

Ron and Ken have not done it alone. Over these 32 years we have been blessed to associate with exceptional talent to design and produce so many amazing structures. Our staff has always shared our dedication to serving our clients well, and their dedication to the firm has been so appreciated. We know that our current staff will continue to grow and flourish where ever their paths take them.

Ron and Ken will continue to maintain the M+E website and office emails for the foreseeable future. To our past clients, we will maintain our archive of work electronically, should there be a need that we can assist you with in the future. For inquiries, please reach out to Ron or Ken, and we will try to assist you.

McCormack + Etten Architects teamed up with the Goebeler Company of Libertyville, IL to develop this 20-acre equestrian estate in Mettawa, Illinois for a private Chicago area client. An older horse farm on the property was completely razed to make way for a new luxury 28 stall main stable, a 106 x 240’ indoor riding arena, another 20 stall stable, a grooms quarters, viewing pavilion, and other out buildings.
