Now that all the baby veggie plants have found their new homes and my garden is planted, it's time to start on my next wild idea - wish me luck!
Inspired by my nieces, I'd like to start offering lessons on what I'm calling "grandma skills" (until I find a better name for it). I am so blessed to be part of an unbroken line of knowledge from the mothers and grandmothers before me, as well as other wonderful women I've met in my life. And I am so honored that I get to pass some of this forward to my nieces.
Talking with these young ladies and their mothers, I sense a desire to engage in these lost skills and a longing to reconnect in a way that seems long forgotten - and maybe a drive to make something with meaning and purpose and craftsmanship. I would love the opportunity to share these skills and ways of connecting with more people.
My nieces are interested in sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery, jam and pie crust making, mending and hemming, quilting, handwriting, gardening, canning, and fun projects - I could teach any of these skills and I'm open to other topics as well.
I don't have all the details worked out just yet, but I have a really clear picture in my head. I'm thinking about private and small group in-person lessons for adults, teens, and preteens. Depending on interest, I might even like to revive a version of what my grandma called "circle" - a "granny circle" if you will.
More to come, and please feel free to message me, share this info, or send me suggestions!
