Few plants create drama quite like Tropicals.🌴✨

With their oversized foliage, bold textures, vibrant blooms, and incredible seasonal growth, tropical plants instantly transform patios, front entrances, and outdoor living spaces into lush, resort-inspired retreats.

In this reel, our designer Andrea shares some of her favorite tropical plants and explains why they’re one of her go-to choices for creating unforgettable container gardens.

The best part? You don’t need a tropical climate to enjoy them. Here in the Pacific Northwest, tropicals thrive in containers and reward you with months of spectacular growth and color. 🌱☀️

☀️ HEAT TIPS: Protect • Care • Recover

The biggest mistake we see during heat waves? Overreacting and overwatering.

🌿 Check the soil first. Wilting during the hottest part of the day is often normal and doesn’t always mean a plant needs water. Plants are much more likely to recover from heat scorch than from root damage caused by overwatering.

Our team’s top heat-wave advice:
🛡️ PROTECT
• Use shade cloth, patio umbrellas, or move containers into afternoon shade.
• Prioritize newly planted trees, shrubs, and containers
• More shade is often better than more water

🌱 WAIT TO PLANT
If it’s hot for you, it’s hot for your plants too. New plantings are especially vulnerable to heat stress while they’re trying to establish roots.

💧 CARE
• Water deeply in the morning
• Take hanging baskets down and place them in a shallow saucer if you’ll be away

🌱 RECOVER
• Pinch back damaged annual blooms and fertilize to encourage fresh growth
• Apply kelp meal to help plants recover from heat stress
• Don’t panic over scorched leaves or flower burn—most plants can bounce back with proper care

The scent of summer starts here. 🤍🌿

If I could only recommend one fragrant plant right now, it would be Star Jasmine.

Star Jasmine checks all the boxes: fragrant blooms, evergreen foliage, fast growth, adaptability to both full sun and part sun, and incredible versatility. Train it up a trellis, let it spill from a container, use it as a groundcover, or grow it as a shrub—it’s one of the hardest-working plants in the garden.

The best part? Place it where you’ll actually enjoy the fragrance. Plant it near a patio or seating area, next to a front door, beneath a window or along a walkway where its sweet scent can be appreciated every day.

If you don’t have jasmine in your garden yet, now is the time. Plant it now and enjoy its beautiful fragrance all season long. 🌿🤍

Think native plants don’t belong in a refined landscape? Think again. 🌿

One of the questions our designer Andrea gets asked most often is: “Can I use native plants in a more structured garden?”

The answer is absolutely.

In this reel, Andrea shares five of her favorite Pacific Northwest native shrubs that bring beauty, texture, seasonal interest, and ecological value to even the most intentional landscape designs.

Which native shrub would you add to your landscape? 🌿
