Happy first day of spring.

The soil is waking up, seed packets are getting opened, and the days are finally stretching long enough to get something done outside after supper. For a lot of us, this is the season where the plans we’ve been making all winter finally start turning into action.

If your spring list includes a garden, livestock, preserving food, or learning a few new skills, the Mid-MO Homestead Expo is coming up soon and full of people who are doing exactly those things.

Happy first day of SPRING! Across the Ozarks and Midwest, Black Walnut trees are waking up for a new season. It’s the beginning of the journey that will take us to the 2026 Black Walnut Harvest. Follow along as we turn our eyes to the trees and share updates and insights on the crop development throughout the year, stay tuned!

Mid MO Homestead Expo is a free two day event with vendors, speakers, demos, and education for homesteaders and small farmers in Missouri.

Vendors are asking for head counts this week. General admission is still free, but a quick RSVP tells them how much to bake, brew, or bring.
