Still stepping around that stump?

In South Florida, it is not just sitting there. It is rotting, and rotting wood feeds termites and root fungus that can spread to healthy trees and palms nearby.

Grinding takes an hour. Call or text Tree Maid at 561-246-3326.

How long has yours been sitting there?

Most people think a new tree means waiting ten years for shade. That's not how this works.

This is a properly sourced, root-balled tree going in the ground with the right equipment, not a five-gallon sapling from a big-box store.

Here's what most homeowners don't know about sourcing a real tree (save this):

🌳 The root ball has to match the trunk. The industry standard is 10 to 12 inches of root ball per inch of trunk diameter. Too small and the tree won't survive the move.

🌳 Size and weight matter more than people expect. A tree like this needs real equipment to lift and place it without damaging the root system, not a shovel and a truck bed.

🌳 Removing the old tree is only half the job. Sourcing and installing the right replacement is what actually finishes it.

🌳 Late summer in South Florida is a good window for new plantings. The rain does most of the watering for you while the roots establish.

If you're removing a problem tree or just ready to upgrade your property, we handle both ends: removal and replacement, not just one or the other.

We got a call. They had a palm tree on their property and were worried as they noticed weird mushrooms growing at its base.

The massive palm tree at the entrance to their home was starting to lean toward the house.

The wife was concerned, and their HOA was on their backs, when a neighbor recommended us treemaid.com

Our crew came out to have a look and confirmed there was root rot, and it was far worse than we thought.

The tree's health was to the point where removal was the smart investment and safer bet.

This is because it only takes a strong storm (not even a hurricane) to push a diseased or damaged tree to the tipping point and cause real damage.

If you are concerned about a tree on your property, give Tree Maid Tree Service a call at 561-246-3326.

Your own trees can pass hurricane prep with flying colors, and you can still take storm damage this season.

This past weekend, our crew worked through a Lake Worth Beach community, getting properties ready before the season's peak.

Have you ever thought about what happens if the tree three doors down fails, not yours?

In HOA communities and neighborhoods like this one, an untrimmed or overloaded tree does not stay one property's problem once it comes down.

Here is what we grade on every tree before we call a property storm-ready (save this for your own walk-through):

⚠️Root condition. Any lifting, cracking, or soft ground at the base is a red flag.

⚠️Trunk integrity. Look for cavities, deep cracks, or a new lean since last season.

⚠️Canopy balance. A lopsided or overly dense canopy catches wind like a sail.

⚠️Clearance from structures. Anything overhanging a roof, fence, or shared wall gets flagged first.

A community is only as storm-ready as its most neglected tree.

If your HOA or neighborhood in Lake Worth Beach has not had every tree walked and graded yet this season, now is the time before hurricane season reaches its peak.

Palm trimming in West Palm Beach.

Dead fronds and seed pods are the first things to fly in a storm.

Getting them off now is the difference between a clean yard and a mess in your pool cage.

Two things worth knowing:

1) Don't cut into green fronds above horizontal. Over-trimming a palm weakens it, and it grows back thinner and more storm-vulnerable, not less.

2) The seed pods matter as much as the fronds. They're heavy, they detach easily, and they do real damage. Palms of any height.

Tree Maid Tree Service we clean up and haul everything away.

That orange X means this palm is coming out today.

The chainsaw is the easy part. The real work is three feet down.

Too close to the house to push over, so we dig the root ball out by hand. Stucco, footers, irrigation, low-voltage wire, all sitting within a few feet of it.

The number one hurricane prep mistake for palms isn't skipping the trim. It's overdoing it.

You've probably seen it done by a company driving through the neighborhood: fronds stripped down to almost nothing, trunk left bare and thin.

It's called a hurricane cut, and it's actually one of the worst things you can do to a palm before storm season.

Here's what proper palm trimming actually looks like (save this before your next trim):

🌴 Only remove fully brown, dead fronds. Green fronds are the palm's food source and its wind cushion.

🌴 Stop at the 9 and 3 o'clock line. Anything trimmed above that thins the trunk over time and weakens the whole tree.

🌴 Skip the pineapple look. A full, round canopy handles wind better than a stripped one ever will.

🌴 Clear the seed pods and loose boots instead. That's safe weight to remove without touching the palm's strength.

We trim palms the correct way, not the fast way. Book your hurricane tree prep this week before the calendar fills up.
