My friend called in a panic when her painter canceled and she had 3 days to get her house ready to list.

So naturally, I spent my vacation days painting all 12 doors in her house. 🎉🚪

Did I work until midnight on my birthday?
Yes.

Would I do it again?
For her, absolutely.

For the rest of you?
Let’s not get carried away. 😂

🎵 “I’m so blue, I don’t know what to do…” 🎵

I know what to do. Paint the kitchen navy. 💙

This project started with a roller and an Emmett Brush from ICR. By the end, the roller was sitting on the floor wondering where things went wrong.

The Emmett Brush leveled Gemini EVO beautifully and made painting these cabinet boxes an absolute dream.

Sorry roller… it’s not you, it’s the brush. (Okay, it’s definitely the brush.)

59 cabinet pieces later and we’re officially somewhere between a paint shop and a dance routine 💃

At this point they just file through like a little cabinet conga line, waiting for their turn to become fabulous.

The good news? Every piece gets the same attention to detail, smooth finish, and obsession with perfection.

A little experiment that may have completely changed how I paint cabinet boxes 👀

Since this is my own kitchen, I challenged myself to paint the cabinet boxes using only my ICR Emmett brush—no rollers, no shortcuts and shockingly less sanding than I was prepared for!

Paired with Gemini EVO, the finish leveled out beautifully, even in this deep color. The smoothness, dry time and cure schedule have me seriously impressed once again.

Safe to say this brush earned a permanent spot in my toolkit.

Now excuse me while I stare at this finish until my guests get here. 😊

It’s embarrassing how much I enjoy this 😂

There’s just something incredibly satisfying about sanding away years of wear and giving cabinets a fresh start again.

This community kitchen in a senior living neighborhood is a BIG one — 58 pieces total — and I genuinely love being part of bringing this space back to life.

Not every kitchen needs a full replacement. Sometimes with the right prep, repairs, and refinishing, you can completely transform what’s already there ✨
