I recently saw someone ask on Instagram: âWhat do you think your industry gets wrong?â
I donât know that I can speak for âmy industryâ because I think everyone has different motives for what they do. For some itâs money, for some itâs recognition, for some itâs for the love design - and probably for most itâs a mixture.
When I started BHDG, I knew I wanted to help people and feed my creative side. I quickly found that the title of âinterior designerâ often comes with an idea that we are judgy and are constantly redesigning every space we walk into. Iâm sure those designers are out there. (And sometimes we canât help but notice what would function better - thatâs why we are good at what we do!). But I assure you that when I walk into your home, Iâm not judging you. Our clients call us because they need help making their space feel more like a home - and we are here to help.
Yes we have to make money to live, and to keep the business alive, but truly, my favorite thing about this job isnât payday. Itâs when a client walks in a room and is overwhelmed by the new space. Seeing a room that will finally function well for them; special artwork from an important trip finally having a home; a space that theyâre not embarrassed to entertain family and friends. A place that feels like home.
We take our relationship with our home owners very seriously and listen to what they need and want - not just to what we think they should have. We recognize their budgets and respect them.
People often think that interior designers are only for the extra wealthy. The truth is, 100% of our clients are on a budget. We pull items from places that work best for each client, and give options in different price ranges.
