⚠️❄️ ICE STORM UPDATE – PLEASE PREPARE ❄️⚠️

Updated forecast models indicate our area may experience a severe ice storm beginning late Saturday and continuing through Sunday.

🌧️➡️❄️ Freezing rain and sleet are expected, with the potential for significant ice accumulation. This may lead to prolonged power outages from downed trees and power lines 🌲⚡, as well as dangerous or impassable road conditions 🚧.

🚨 Emergency Management strongly recommends residents be prepared to shelter in place for several days.

🧰 Prepare now with essential supplies:
• 🍽️ Food & 💧 water
• 🔋 Batteries & power banks
• ⛽ Fuel
• 🧣 Blankets & warm clothing
• 🔦 Flashlights or lanterns
• 🔥 Alternate heat safety — ensure working CO₂ monitors if using propane

✔️ If the storm impacts are less than expected, no harm done by being prepared.
⚠️ If it unfolds as forecasted, preparation will be critical.

🥶 Extended forecasts show overnight temperatures in the teens for much of the following week, which may slow ice melt and recovery efforts.

Bear Gap Rd is currently blocked/closed by tractor trailer in the area of Minihaha Falls and Brandon Mill Rd. It may be that way for quite some time as they await a towing company for removal. Please avoid the area!

Our last update from forestry had the fire 50% contained and burning back away from Crow Creek area further into the mtns. Parts were burning out on the upper ridgelines. Approximately 65 acres had burned as of Wednesday mid day.

We have an active forest fire in the mountains behind Crow Creek. Please avoid Crow Creek Rd unless you are a homeowner or acting on behalf of homeowners, so as to allow fire crews to freely access needed areas. NO homes are currently in danger and please pray for the safety of all involved. Fire crews may temporarily stage around homes as a precaution due to the strong winds. Please do not call our office or emergency services asking what is going on! We will notify any homeowners of impending danger.
