SEEKING HELP:

We are seeking a fulltime all-around carpenter (W-2) employee who is interested in joining our team. Our carpenters' tasks routinely rotate from framing to finish carpentry, cabinetry, minor drywall work, painting, windows, siding. If you have 3-5 years of experience, you may be who we are seeking! Clean language required. Non-smokers only.

Weekly hourly pay
OT is offered at times, never required
7:30am to 4:00pm Monday - Friday
Company supplies power tools if requested
Carpenter supplies hand tools
Company truck as needed with opportunity for a take-home
PTO earnings
Health & dental insurance available

We work hard to earn text messages like these. Two days in a row.

One message is from someone who experienced a vehicle hitting the front of his home. We had to find a matching brick texture then we had to stain the color to match the house. I drove it out to Akron to be custom stained. The match is great! Permits were pulled.

The second message is from someone who wanted a one-week bathroom remodel. She took off on a cruise for a week because I was tearing apart her only bathroom. She will see it later tonight. She’s texting me from 30,000 feet! New tub & surround, vanity, toilet, lighting. A lot of drywall and paint work went into this one this week. When I called Ace Portable Toilets to have the temporary toilet removed from the driveway, Morgan said, “We just set this a couple days ago.” Permits were pulled. Unfortunately, Maumee lost power as we were finishing so we couldn’t use the lights.

Homeowners near and far: This is a letter I received from the City of Toledo today. This is a reminder to all, regardless of city or even state, to check with your local building and/or zoning authority before you change anything inside or outside of your home. Many times, permits are required. This is often for your own protection against unscrupulous "contractors" or even to protect you against yourself in the event you "think" you know what you are doing properly, when you may be mistaken. Even great contractors get caught by the inspections from time to time with mistakes that may have deadly consequences (inadequate HVAC ventilation, etc)

There is no sugar coating it. The current, and especially the upcoming, weather is and will be brutal. Sure, we know to take care of ourselves and our pets. Let’s think about our homes for a minute.

If you haven’t started to patrol your home already, check it out. Turn on faucets and flush toilets that are in areas of the home you haven’t used since the kids moved out. If you aren’t getting water, the line is already frozen. Call your favorite plumbers immediately. If it’s working, great! Keep patrolling! Check it frequently. Keep cabinet and room doors open. Keep warm air circulating. Prevent issues!
