A donation triplet! Master Gardeners delivered 19 pounds of AAS winning vegetables to the Lancaster County Food Hub.

AAS Garden Winners are flowers and vegetables that have been “Tested Nationally & Proven Locally."™ Each AAS entry is tested for superior garden performance by horticulture professionals across North America.

Murasaki Fioretto 70 F1 Cauliflower, Purple Magic Broccoli, and Konstance F1 Kohlrabi were harvested from the Penn State Extension Lancaster County Master Gardeners’ demonstration gardens. Gardens are open daily for visitors at 1446 Auction Rd, Manheim. Come see what’s growing in our AAS display gardens now!

Esta semana en WLCH Radio Centro, las maestras jardineras Cynthia y Dana explican cómo seleccionar las mejores plantas de plántulas de un vivero. Evita plantas con estas cosas: hojas amarillentas; manchas o agujeros mordidos; signos de enfermedad fúngica (cualquier mancha peluda, negra, marrón o blanda en hojas o tallos); ocultar insectos; malas hierbas, plantas enraizadas. ¡Intenta encontrar plántulas pequeñas, compactas y perfectas para tener el mejor éxito!

This week on WLCH Radio Centro, Master Gardeners Cynthia and Dana explain how to select the best seedling plants from a nursery. Avoid plants with these things: yellowing leaves; spots or chewed holes; signs of fungal disease (anything fuzzy, black, brown or mushy spots on leaves or stems); hiding insects; weeds, root-bound plants. Try to find small, compact and perfect seedlings for best success!
