So this was a big project for us in Belleair Beach. Home has been for sale for a bit as part of an estate. Landscape got wiped out in last season's storms. Family approached me in November or so about just replacing a few things. I advised that with the damage suffered, replacing a few things would hardly make a difference. Either go all in or sell as is. So they approached me again in late February and requested a proposal to fit their budget. So after a bit of work I submitted a proposal which was accepted. We went to work this week. Demolition, huge amount of debris, new irrigation, plants, mulch, sod. Lots of great teamwork. Kimberlyn Beattie Aubrey Griffin Sodzilla, Christian Rogers, Brandon Street.

Started our day at this home in Largo. The Red mulch was mounded and had lost its color. We raked it all out. Filled A LOT of bags before the garbage guys came. Anywho, client requested alternating pink and white Vincas. Replaced red mulch with brown. Nice fresh updated look. And the brown does not fade out to the degree the red does. For the container, "Thriller Filler Spiller." Salvia (Thriller), Dusty Miller (Filler), Aptina/Baby Sun Rose (Spiller). I'll visit next month and take a pic of the Vincas. They should fill out quickly with the warmer weather here.

Rain Rain Rain!

How are your plants doing? Is your yard lush, overgrown? Are some suffering from too much water?

For container plants, check on them and make sure they are not holding water. Some of your pots may not have drainage holes. Or if you have them sitting on a tray outside, you may need to remove the tray so that they are not soaking up too much through the roots when that tray holds water.

Don't be afraid to trim plants because because you're not sure if this is the right time of year. If it's getting too big for the space or you just don't love the shape or size, trim it back. You don't need to do a hard prune to get its shape back.

If you haven't invested in a rain barrel, it's not too late. September is often still a very rainy month. Save this water for our dry winter seasons.

There are also attractive and functional drainage options for where your downspout empties.

I love all this rain but I check my plants and pots regularly for signs of over watering.
