Potted up hundreds of tomatoes this morning. There is something very therapeutic about digging in dirt and seeing gorgeous roots (some dahlias from seeds needed potting up too) that have developed over a month. We are still so high in elevation that we have another month at least inside under lights before these get to go outside. Makes me happy!

Chrysanthemums-is there a prettier fall bloom? Well ok dahlia lovers, I get it, but when these are done by my front door, they will go in the ground and be ready to bloom next year! Paying the price for a grower to grow these plants all year, then picking out gorgeous pots that have three plants in each pot is a bargain! One of my favorite flowers of all.

Sage-have you thought about using sage as a border? It is a perennial, flowers, stays compact, is drought tolerant and looks incredible! Other drought tolerant plants in this pic are holly hocks, Mexican feather grass, lambs ear, or stem in, sedum, gaura, and grasses. The Harvest Trail has beautiful gardens that are easy to propagate and shade the ground for each other by planting close together. Happy Gardening!

Dahlia growing in bag! My mom brought all our pots and soil from them to our new location. She must have brought the dahlia tuber in perfect conditions because this baby was a foot tall when I found it in a soil bag yesterday! I’m so glad it’s here-hopefully it will take the transplant shock and come back. It’s a chocolate cherry dwarf dahlia. So pretty! Happy Gardening!

New Garden bed is planted-over 120 perennials and annuals. The Harvest Trail Erin did the hard part of prep-I got the easy part of planting! This is why it is so much easier to start garden beds from seed-and yes it takes longer, but who could afford that many plants at one time? Three years-let’s see what we have. Happy Gardening!
