Designing a bohemian space doesn’t mean you have to pile up macramé or cover every surface in fringed throw pillows. When we bring a boho palette into a primary suite, we do it through hand-carved teak and custom textiles.

It’s about layering real texture and natural materials so the room feels like an airy, high-end hideaway. You get all the relaxed, earthy energy you want, backed by the kind of structural integrity and craftsmanship that still looks incredible fifteen years down the line.

This spiral staircase at Poliform showroom in Milan is an absolute masterclass in architectural millwork. It relies entirely on raw geometry, warm wood veneer, and low-profile tread lighting to make a statement.
Why? Bending timber around a tight helical radius without visible seams requires elite craftsmanship. The subtle recessing lights right along the wall kickplate keep the focus on the step surfaces while throwing a warm glow on the stone treads.
I love them because they act as a massive anchor for the space, yet the open center keeps the entire layout feeling light and fluid. They look like a single piece of sculpture carved straight out of the room. 🤍

Living in a space that actually reflects how you like to spend your time is peak living. So many people treat high-end design like a museum where you’re supposed to sit upright, hold your breath, and touch nothing. I’ve always believed that true luxury should serve your life, not the other way around. Your home needs to be your personal sanctuary: a place packed with things that bring you genuine peace, a bit of friendly competition, and pure fun.
That’s why when I stumbled across this foosball table at Giorgetti, I was blown away.
Usually, game room gear looks like it was yanked out of a college basement, but this piece completely redefines the category. We’re talking a clear crystal playing field, solid walnut handles, and a hand-stitched leather frame built by master Italian artisans.

Checked into the Four Seasons (Four Seasons Hotel Milano), walked into the lobby, and immediately spotted three original pieces by Matt Shlian (Matthew Shlian) - the exact same artist hanging in our home theater. There’s no better validation that you’ve picked the right hotel than realizing their curator has the same taste as your living room.

A few thoughts on why collecting art matters:

✔️Seeing a piece you live with every day featured in a high-end space is instant confirmation that you bought well. Real artistry has this way of fitting in anywhere that values real craft over fast trends.
✔️Shlian’s work with paper geometry is insane. Supporting living artists who push raw materials to their absolute limit brings a level of soul into a space that mass-produced decor can never truly replicate.
✔️Surrounding yourself with pieces you genuinely love means that no matter where you travel in the world, great design feels familiar.

You can’t really judge a room just by looking at it. To me, the real test is how it feels when you actually live there. It’s the weight of the drapes, the specific grain of the wood, or how a stone floor holds the temperature. Texture is where the quality shows its face. You can’t fake it.

I tend to spend a lot of time obsessing over fabrics because they’re the most intimate part of a project. Whether it’s a heavy Belgian linen that hangs perfectly or a custom-woven wool for a sofa, these materials have to do more than just look expensive. They have to be durable enough to stay beautiful for a decade or two. It’s about creating a space that feels substantial, not just decorated.

This is one of those details you might not notice right away, but it completely changes the way the kitchen feels. The lighting is built directly into the stone underneath the upper cabinets, giving you the task lighting you need without having to make the cabinets taller. A great example of how a small design decision can solve a practical problem and still look really good. 💡

We spend so much time thinking about what happens at eye level that it’s easy to forget to look up.

Ceilings can completely change the feeling of a room. They can surprise you, add character, and create a moment you might not expect. There’s a reason so many of the beautiful spaces we admire from the past paid just as much attention to what was above us.

Projects I’ve worked on tend to be more minimal when it comes to ceilings, but after my recent trips to Paris and Milan, I’ve been looking up a lot more - and I’m already thinking about how I can bring some of these ideas into future projects.

Maybe that’s something we can learn from the old ways: don’t overlook any surface when there’s an opportunity to create beauty. ✨

There are some things you can bring into your home that instantly make it feel a little different. A fresh perspective, a bit of color, or simply something new to look at as you go about your day.

Flowers are one of my favorite ways to do that. They can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, and they don’t require changing the room to change how it feels.

Here are a few recent arrangements I really loved. Gorgeous in their own way, and a good reminder that sometimes a small change is all a space needs.
