Good Morning Followers! Today I want to talk about starting your design project, whether you're doing your own or hiring a pro. The most important step for the begining is defining what your taste is for the room or home. To do this I recommend collecting pictures from shelter magazines and books, or by starting a Pinterest page, a collection of rooms and objects you absolutely LOVE! As you go through them a second time look for similarities in shape and color. These pieces will work together well. You can also look for items that contrast with each other as counterpoints to like objects. As an example consider a black fourposter bed set against a color, such as Sherwin Williams color of the month for July, Chartreuse 0073. The black will make the wall color pop!
(See the SW photos below). You're not limited to chartreuse, of course, any color that is a favorite can work in the same way. When you complement the colors, such as in the Farrow and Ball rooms in grey and blue-grey with the soft blue ottoman or the kitchen with stainless steel and a grey and multi rug in soft hues you can see how this works so well. So let's get started! Start collecting your own photos, or if you already have them start sorting. I'll continue with Step 2 next time!
