Some of my happiest moments were delivering plants to customers and seeing how excited they were to bring them home. Watching someone light up over a new leaf, a rare find or their very first “wishlist” plant genuinely brought me so much joy.
But over time, I realized I was stuck in the same cycle I know a lot of us fall into.
More plants.
More pressure.
More consumption.
More burnout.
Every week there was another “must have” plant trending online.
Another mutation.
Another variegation.
Another reason to feel like you needed to keep up to be considered a “real” collector.
And somewhere along the way, I stopped enjoying the plants I already had.
Living with chronic illness means my energy is limited. Trying to run a live plant business while keeping up with constant care, rehabs, pests, imports, shipping, customer service, social media, and everything else became more than my body could realistically sustain.
This decision has been incredibly emotional because I truly love this community.
But I also know I’m not the only person who has felt overwhelmed by this hobby.
So this is your reminder too:
You do not need every trending plant.
You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars to belong here.
You are allowed to slow down.
Your current plants are enough.
Spend time enjoying the plants you already have. Actually enjoy them.
Prop & Thrive is evolving, not disappearing. 🌿
I’ll still be creating — just in a way that gives me more room for creativity, storytelling, and sustainability long term.
More merch.
More design.
Thank you to everyone who supported my little business, trusted me with your plants, shared your excitement with me, and made this journey so meaningful. It truly meant more than you know.
Love,
Tee
