A bit of Roman history..

Located in Rome, Italy, the Temple of Portunus is a unique structure that serves as a rare surviving example from the Roman Republic. Combining both traditional and innovative elements, it stands out as an exceptional representation of ancient Roman architecture.

The rectangular temple, built in the late 2nd or early 1st century BC, is remarkably well-preserved, offering insight into the craftsmanship and design of the era. The temple is dedicated to Portunus, a deity associated with cattle, keys, and ports, which is appropriate given its location near the ancient river port of Rome.
