One of the primary project objectives of the Oakwood Residence was to create a single path of circulation from the basement mudroom to the third floor landing. Originally, a grand stair connected the main and second floors while narrow back-of-house stairs ran from basement to first and second to third floors. The new serpentine volume was a serious effort of engineering and features a lustrous venetian plaster finish that dapples light as you move.⁠
